November Movies

It's that time again kids! I watched a TON of movies this month. I whittled down to the ones that are worth watching for one reason or another.

Silent House - Kind of predictible but the main actress does a great job. Also interesting because it's a real time, continuous shot film. I would watch it again.

Last Days Here - Great documentary about a guy who was in a great metal band in the 70s. He is now a drug-addled man child. Very interesting watch.

Albert Nobbs - I really liked this movie. It's a movie about a woman living as a man to forward her career. But it's also about so much more.

Safety Not Guaranteed - This movie was delightful. Quirky love story about a man who puts a personal ad out for someone to travel through time with him.

The Man With The Iron Fists - There is so much wrong with this movie. RZA's dialog and acting are horrid. But the fight scenes are fun and the movie is entertaining nonetheless.

The Weird World Of Blowfly - If you only watch one documentary this year, this should be the one. This guy is a CHARACTER. He's highly offensive so if you are faint of heart, this is probably not the movie for you.

Life Happens - This was probably my least favorite of the list, but a good one if you don't want to have to think at all.

Lucky - The description of this movie is: A wannabe serial killer wins the lottery and pursues his lifelong crush. I don't think it requires any further explanation.

Dumplings - This is the full length version of a short I watched a while back. About a woman who makes dumplings out of human fetuses, that are supposed to make you stay youthful. Disturbing and wonderful.

Well, that's it for November. Hope you all are surviving the holidays and things are going as you want them to.

Happy picture of the day: one of the very few pictures of me with make-up on, which I refer to as me in "war paint."

  3. I liked the movie Albert Nobbs, but the ending didn't leave me all that good?

The trailer for Safety Not Guaranteed, looked really interesting. It's on my list of movies that I would like to get around to seeing.

  4. Oh my gosh, I loved Safety Not Guaranteed!! I just watched it with The Husband yesterday when I was feeling sick. Totally cheered me up.

I especially loved the sweet, innocent Indian kid/character, b/c he reminded me of a friend I had back in college.

  6. I've not seen any of these movies, but Dumplings sounds very interesting, and it seems like I'd enjoy The Weird World of Blowfly.

I keep meaning to watch stuff, but never get around to it. I think the last movie I watched was The Avengers when I was on vacation in September. I was road-tripping and not sleeping, so we ordered a The Avengers in our room and I finally got some sleep.

    1. Are you hinting that The Avengers was boring? You and I must talk.

    2. Not at all... I love all those comic-based movies. Especially anything with Robert Downey Jr. (so glad he cleaned himself up). It's a measure of how tired I was that I fell asleep.

  7. I haven't heard of any of these, except The Man with the Iron Fists. Also, if you've seen Californication, you'll see that RZA can't even act when he's playing a spoof of himself. It's hilariously terrible.

  8. I will skip seeing him in Californication. Having to watch him in this movie was bad enough. :)
