I saw some really good ones, and some really terrible ones. I ended up watching two by the same independent director back to back on accident. Here's the movies I would recommend that I saw last month.
Damsels In Distress - I LOVE Whit Stillman. I really do. Although this is nowhere near as good as his older works, it is still worth a view.
It Came From Kuchar - These twin underground filmmakers are zany to say the least. Such an entertaining documentary.
Being Flynn - Paul Dano is one of my favorite young actors. He does a great job as an aspiring writer with an estranged father that he reconnects with out of the blue. Very good movie.
Zach Galifianakis: Live At The Purple Onion - It's my boyfriend doing stand up that is so funny you'll cry. Need I say more?
Rid Of Me - Starts off a little slow and at times I thought, "Trying too hard." But well acted and a really great ending.
Film Geek - Same writer as Rid Of Me. Very amusing movie. I have met socially inept movie fanatics like this guy. They weren't quite as bad as this fella, but almost.
The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel - A great cast, a cute story, and very well acted. I LOVE Dev Patel so I'm more than a little biased. But a feel good movie to be sure.
Well, that's it folks. Hope you had a great October and a fun Halloween.
Happy picture of the day: Eating a hamburger while wearing a Morrissey sweater is funny.

Stop making me add movies to my queue. Seriously. Between every season of Doctor Who available, Man vs. Wild and all the other movies you've recommended I am well over 150.
ReplyDeleteHaha! Just don't read these posts! :)
DeleteI still can only comment on a few blogs. I will have to give in and set aside some computer time at home.
I watched being Flynn and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel too. Liked them both a lot. Next one on my list is "Safety Not Guaranteed," heard good things about it but we'll see.
ReplyDeleteFunny. That is on the top of my list. It looks really good.
DeleteI really wanted to see that last one, but just haven't, yet. Some of the others sound great, too! I love when you do your movie posts, because it gives lots of films to add to my list.
ReplyDeleteLove that picture! So cute!
The last one was very cute.
DeleteThanks! I like silly pictures. I have a ton of them.
Live at the Purple Onion? Never heard of it but I do love your boyfriend, in a strictly platonic sense of course, so I'll have to check that one out.
ReplyDeleteI've seen it four times and I laugh every time like I've never seen it before.
DeleteI haven't seen Best Exotic yet, but everyone says it's wonderful. Maybe I'll have to get it out this weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt was cute and worth the watch for sure.
DeleteOh my god, where do you get a Morrissey sweater!?! And does wearing one automatically make you celibate? The only one of those I've seen is Live at the Purple Onion. I'll have to check out all those others, definitely It Came from Kuchar.
ReplyDeleteYou asked the same thing when I posted a picture of it on my fashion post. Vivamoz.com. :)
DeleteIt most certainly does NOT make me celibate.
You will love the filmmaking twins. I know you will.
i just watched a really good foreign film (french with english subtitles) called Intouchables. such a beautiful, heart warming story! it's about 2 people from completely opposite social and economic statuses who come together and form a wonderful friendship.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to check that one out.
