I spent hours trying to figure out how to get this from my iPhone to this blog. I am not very tech savvy. I know you all wanted to see me make faces like a three year old and act immature so you're welcome.

The Vegemite Experiment
Kellie over at Delightfully Ludicrous sent a few of us who live in the states, tubes of Vegemite. It was to see if anyone outside of Australia could love the stuff as much as they do. Well, I can't speak for everyone but I can tell you that I did not love the stuff. I have the video to prove it.

o no ... so you fell victim, too. i told her don't even go there. hahaha
ReplyDeleteIt was totally fun and worth it. But man, I have no idea how they eat that stuff. I am bound and determined to make something delicious with it. I am thinking a salted caramel chocolate brownie.
ReplyDeleteYech!!! My aunt is from Australia but I just can't bring myself to try it, even for her sake. Well done! I'm glad to see that they are packaging it in tubes; we tried to bring some back on the plane and they made us throw it out because it was in tiny glass jars. I'll bet like soy sauce, it could be used as a salty ingredient in something...you'll have to let us know how it goes.
ReplyDeleteIt was not fun to eat on toast, I'll just tell you that much.
ReplyDeleteI will definitely let you know what I make. I actually watched an episode of Master Chef Australia where it was the ingredient they had to use. I found the recipe for some macarons they had made that actually look quite good. We'll see.
You are a trip! Ha ha! That stuff just sounds nasty. What is it, exactly? Is it hazelnut? Is it vegetable-y? Besides, I'm thinking, a 'food' that comes in a tube? Ehm, no.
ReplyDeleteHey how did you get a video from your phone to Youtube? I was thinking of doing the drawing that way by video so it's sort of like this 'live' event...
It's brewer's yeast I believe.
ReplyDeleteI occasionally get tube wasabi if I can't get the fresh root, but rarely. I don't eat food out of a tube.
I recorded on my iPhone and I already had a YouTube account. I can just choose to upload to YouTube straight from my phone. I had no idea. You learn something new every day.
OMG I never laughed so hard in my life!! hahahahaha I had to watch that TWICE!! Ohh, salt on salt? Yummm!! I would love to see you make that into something delicious :)
ReplyDeleteWe laughed so much even before making it. That is Dave's laugh you here as I'm running to the kitchen to get water.
ReplyDeleteI will dammit! I swear! :)
Oh, that was funny! It was pretty clear you did not like it :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I heard you say it tasted like liquid salt, though, my ears perked, as I absolutely love salt! I'll have to find some...I don't want it from a tube, though...for some reason that makes it completely unappetizing to me!
I am pretty sure it's the same crap in a jar, as it is in the tube. haha.
ReplyDeleteI like salty as well, but this is a whole 'nother level. Go tip the salt shaker in to your mouth for 20seconds straight. There, you don't need Vegemite! :)
Hahahaha! I could see little dust clouds kicking up from your heels you bailed so fast to get that water. Awesome.
ReplyDeleteWell done! That was a good sized bite you took there! We all appreciate your dedication to getting accurate results.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for doing this for me to satisfy my curiosity. I hope your other recipe turns out better tasting for you!
I took a HUGE bite. I half ass nothing!!
ReplyDeleteI will make something awesome. I swear!
HA!!!! this made me laugh! i would NEVER put that stuff in my mouth! i am such a chicken! the name gives me the creeps, and it looks gross! and the faces you made said it all!
ReplyDeletethen again, it took me 25 (or was it 30?) years to try avocado because the color/texture gave me the creeps. lol. sometimes you take a risk and TRY something scary and it works out. and sometimes NOT! :)
p.s. thank you so much for the birthday wishes! :)
I am still laughing about how bad it was. I will pretty much try anything once. My philosophy is, "You can't talk about how bad something is if you haven't tried it."
ReplyDeleteI LOVE avocadoes.
You're quite welcome. Hope you got some fun stuff from your friends and loved ones.
Hilarious video but how could you not like it? It puts a rose on every cheek? Try it with grilled cheese, that's my favourite
ReplyDeleteI think you might have put too much on. Beginners require more butter than Vegemite. :P
Nice try, Rusty. Nice try. :)
ReplyDeleteI WILL make something good with it though. I am bound and determined.
