So I have been ridiculously sick since new year's day. I got the most absurd stomach flu I've ever had and was literally unable to even keep down liquids for three days. The illness ran in total about 5 days. I was joking that someone had slipped me some water from India. Or I was a real life character in the Oregon Trail game and I had been the player who got dysentery. At any rate, as soon as I felt decent again I caught a shitty ass cold. I figure this is rad as the year can't get any worse, so starting off like this is totally fine with me. Nowhere to go but up!!
I took up camping on my couch, and had the tv on and heater blasting the whole time, so I can just imagine what my energy bills will be like for the month. I am pretty sure after this cold I will have the immune system of the gods for a while though. You know when you're so sick you can't even stand up long enough to take a shower? That was me. I took two showers in a whole week. It was disgusting. Don't get me started on how my OCD won't allow me to puke in the same toilet I've just used for toileting purposes. Thank goodness I have two bathrooms. I was running back and forth between both for days.
So now I'm back, but I don't have the brain power to write anything of interest. I didn't even get on the internet for days while I was ill. I hadn't any interest whatsoever. I just today caught up on all of my blogs and commented on a few. These are the days where I feel like I should just get rid of the blog and stay in touch with all the folks I've started communicating with that I adore. But I know I'm just sick and tired and it'll pass.
I made a huge slab of ribs last night for my first real meal I was able to digest and good lord were they awesome. I have little to no appetite which is kind of nice. I lost 8 pounds during my illness so I'm hoping to just keep going with it. I also quit smoking as a side-effect so I'm gonna stick with that too. I also decided to not drink for the rest of the month as drinking is when I want to smoke the most. So sometimes illness leads to better health!!
Anyways, I hope your guys' 2013 started off better than mine, and that you are making a mighty fine time of things. I'm just happy to be at work (sad I know) and not be laying on my damn couch covered in kitties and tissues.
Happy picture of the day: my Molly kitty. She was really cute while I was sick and stuck by my side an awful lot.

Ahh I see that your new year started off as well as mine.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds a bit like the naro virus, which is hitting Britain pretty hard at the moment.
Glad you're feeling much better my lovely and way to go with giving up the smoking and drinking, as well as losing the weight. xx
Oh my gosh!!! How positively dreadful, girl! Woah, no fun, no fun! Declare a do-over and have a 'real' New Years! You are so right - nowhere to go but up from there, for sure! I am so sorry you've been that sick. No worries about not writing anything of interest - I'm just glad your back from the land of puke and snot! Ew and ickville!
ReplyDeleteWish I could say I've lost 8, you must have mailed them to me because I've picked a few up, but I too, have sworn off the vino this month and that should help. Nothing packs it on quicker than the pleasures of the grape! Hope that goes well and WAY TO GO on being cig-free! Keep that up for sure!!!
I am working on that post as we 'speak' - hope to have it up by tomorrow!
Happy you're on the mend!
Thanks love! Once I get my health back I'll concentrate on getting back to the workout routine.
ReplyDeleteI commented on your last short post but don't know if it went through. My iPhone is weird with comments sometimes.
Glad you're feeling better! Being ill sucks. I think I had swine flu two or three New Year's back. That was a fun time.
ReplyDeleteStill, Happy 2013 and all that, and I am jealous of your ribs.
I am jealous you can nap so easily! I'll trade ya!
Delete"Don't have the brain power to write anything of interest"!?! A post mostly about vomiting and you don't think there's anything of interest there? It sucks you were feeling bad (or working through bulimic issues, whichever). And I'm so glad you're feeling better.
ReplyDeleteOh, I can't believe you got a cold after the flu! That's awful. I'm glad Molly hung out with you. I sometimes think my cats are at their happiest when I'm sick, because they are happy that I'm lying in one spot and they can cuddle to their hearts' content :)
ReplyDeleteAn, uh oh, you have an odd number of followers again!
Molly is my caregiver.
DeleteI know! It's been that way two weeks. Ugh!
I'm sorry to hear you were so sick -- stomach flu is the absolute worst -- but I'm glad to hear you're feeling a little better. Also, I laughed out loud at the Oregon Trail thing. Sure, you might have gotten dysentery, but at least you weren't trying to cross 1000 miles in a horse-drawn wagon while enduring it, right?
ReplyDeleteAND I didn't have to hunt squirrel! Bright side!
