Talent

The reason I like so many different artists, musicians, dancers, etc. is that I just really enjoy when someone is exhibiting talent. Here are some of the things that make me smile.

Skinner - Time Lapse

Birdy - 1901

I wanted to put a link to the three roommate poppers that were on last night's So You Think You Can Dance but I can't find the video anywhere. You need to see them. It was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of shit.

Alberto Vargas

Chet Baker - Time After Time

Breakdancing

The Beach Boys - I'm Waiting For The Day

Robert Bowen - Magnanimous- That part at the end about him rarely smiling is so not true.

That's all I got for now. I haven't been sleeping for shit this week and I have zero energy so I'm not gonna lie, I'm kinda phoning it in these last few days. Hopefully next week will be better. :)

The insomnia is getting really old really fast. Plus, it is making me really old really fast. :)

  3. three cheers for all the talent out there!

i think i have been "phoning it in" most of my life. LOL! well, maybe that is an exaggeration, but it is hard to give everything your all day in and day out, particularly if you are sleep-deprived!

last night was the first night in a while that i didn't take any sleeping aids. i was SHOCKED that i actually fell asleep. we'll see what happens tonight!

hope your insomnia passes soon! i'd give you some tips, but i am pretty sure you have heard all of them before!

  5. I am just so exhausted I can't think.

I have heard all of them. Nothing works for me.

I am going to get something. I just can't do this anymore.

  9. Don't you love this season's So You Think You Can Dance? I think this may be my favorite group of dancers so far.

  10. Human excellence is awe-inspiring. It's why I can watch Travis Barker play drums for hours at a time. I loved the breakdancing video... I wish I had skills like that.

I especially love seeing young people pursuing excellence when there's no immediate payoff - just the desire to get better.

  11. I think that's a great thing to see also: people who are doing something because it's in their bones, not for a pay off in the end.

There was a period in my 20s where I only dated boys in dance crews. I will always have a soft spot for breakdancers.

  12. I've had a lot of musicians in my life, and a few guys who perfected the art of being total assholes - at least they were dedicated.
