Music

I just KNOW that you give a shit what I'm listening to right now. So here it is.

The Naked and Famous - Jilted Lovers

Sally Seltmann - Heart That's Pounding

Oingo Boingo - Little Girls

Drive Like Jehu - Do You Compute

Monsula - Razors

The Who - Bald Headed Woman

Iron and Wine - Naked As We Come

The XX - Heart Skipped A Beat

Los Cincos - Kissing at the Carnival

Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

Happy picture of the day: I would eat at any restaurant that had a sign like this.

  1. Ha! I like that sign. Reminds me of that pizza place in SF a few years back that printed their worst Yelp reviews on T-Shirts and had their servers wear them.

  2. I loved that. There is a YouTube thing about horrible Yelpers too. It's pretty hilarious, and right on.

  3. I like learning about new music and I haven't heard of this indie band, The Who, before, so hooray for discovery. Just kidding, but really, I haven't heard of The Naked and Famous. Make me a cool kid, please?
Yelpers are an interesting breed. I don't think I've ever wondered about a restaurant and gone to Yelp for a definitive answer on whether or not to go.

  4. My friend Ally right there in the comments and I used to be active on Yelp years ago. It's turned in to a really weird thing to be sure. I now can't stand it.

The Naked and Famous are fun. I'm pretty sure you've already heard their popular one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YuSg4mts9E

  9. @droll,
Right? I loved it so much. And I listen to more music than anyone should. It's a bit absurd really.

    @Heather,
It could've happened anywhere. But if you had to pack up the family and move to Cali, I'd protect you from the face eaters.

  10. I listen to different music than you, but I'm the same when it comes to "more music than anyone should. It's a bit absurd really." I spend a stupid amount of time tracking down mixtapes from unknown artists, watching Youtube video, listening to satellite radio, walking around with my ipod on, etc.

The ipod and headphones have been a real salvation at work for ignoring co-workers who want to chat during lunch. It's absolutely my sanity.

  11. Also, I never heard of yelping before this... something we've escaped in Canada, maybe?

  12. I am betting there is a Canada Yelp.

Also, my email is in my profile. Send me some music links. I always look forward to hearing née stuff.

  14. And also (hopping up on my soap box/high horse here)... I pay for all my music, and I feel good doing it.

I do give most things a pre-listen before investing, but if I think I'll still want to hear it in a couple months, I'm more than happy to shell out cash for someone's art and hard work. Some of that is because I listen to some fairly unknown artists who really need the cash... but I pay for Eminem's music too. He may have more money than god, but he's fucking earned it and continues to work for it.

Okay, I'll stop talking now... maybe.

  15. I pay for all of my music too. I only had friends burn me cd's of Prince, and some old timey stuff where the people are dead and wouldn't get the money anyways. I want to support musicians, not rob them.
