No Computer Days

I had such a lovely trip up in the foothills of Auburn Monday night and most of Tuesday. I got to eat a great dinner, go to a rad dive bar, and watch tons of bad movies laying in bed with doggies. It was a much needed respite from city life.
On the trip I decided I'm going to do several no computer days every week. That includes checking the internet from my iPhone. I'm going to start out just doing Saturdays and Sundays. We'll see how that goes. Obviously, this will be an outside of work exercise, as being at work I am required to be on the computer pretty much all day every day. I rely on electronic life a little too much for my liking still, so I'm going to try and take this extra step. We'll see how it goes.

Here is a pic of the great dive bar I hung out at Monday night. The bartender played Nina Simone songs and they had several n/a beers for me to drink instead of just the regular old O'Douls. That was nice. They also had a killer jukebox. I got to listen to MGMT, Loretta Lynn, ELO, Ray LaMontagne, Joe Jackson, and all kinds of other stuff I love.

Here are the doggies I got to sleep with. They are miniature pinchers and cute as all get out.

I apologize for the weird formatting of this post. I am having an issue with uploading pics on my computer, and had to do it via iPhone Blogger app, and I can't seem to fix it. This will hopefully not happen in future posts. If it does, I may have to stab myself in the eye with a rusty spork.

  1. I think it's really self-aware of you to take the step to break from the internet for a few days a week if you felt you were overdosing on electronica. That bar looks and sounds great.
And I'm jealous of the doggies. I haven't pet a dog in years. That's the curse of apartment-city-living.

  2. I just find myself not doing stuff like going for walks, reading, and going on bike rides, because I'm on my iPhone. It's sad and I'm hoping to curb it.

The bar was awesome. I'm sad I didn't get to play shuffleboard. I will definitely go back there next time I visit my friend.

My friend lives in an apartment but their small doggies so she can get away with it. I can't wait to get dogs. I have a huge yard and it needs some animals. I also want to get chickens.

  3. I'm so glad that you had an awesome time!!! I love low key places like that. You feel like home. Don't you wish you could just walk into a place and everyone' nows you're name? Salem, MA is one of my favorite places on eath just for that reason. It's a small town and everyone knows one another. Then during the summer time, it's a tourist attraction. Best of both worlds!

P.S. Goodluck staying off your iphone. I couldn't do it!

  4. You either feel like home, or you walk in and they stare at you like you're an outlander. Luckily, I'm very personable so usually within 10 minutes I am chatting up everyone in the place.

I'm far more comfortable in places where most people are afraid. Like my neighborhood. It's weird.

I can do it. I got rid of Facebook and Twitter without a hitch, I can whittle down my iPhone time too. It's just going to take a while to get used to.

  5. You should really stop keeping rusty forks around to quell yourself of that impulse.

  6. I should have said SPORK not fork:
" If it does, I may have to stab myself in the eye with a rusty spork."

  7. I don't keep them around. But I would rust out one of my sporks to poke myself in the eye if I needed to. Luckily, I solved the issue by uploading the pics at home in the morning, then writing my entries before I start my work day here.

    I'm craft-ay!
